Get Involved

We invite you to stand with us, share your resources, and be part of a movement that turns community care into real, measurable impact for our children and families.

Ways to Get Involved

Choose how you want to support the Back to School Community Bash

The Back to School Community Bash is more than an event—it is a collective effort to ensure every child in our community starts the school year with confidence, dignity, and the resources they need to succeed.

Each year, hundreds of families attend seeking support, encouragement, and access to essential school supplies, services, and community resources. When you choose to get involved, you are directly impacting a child’s ability to show up prepared, a parent’s ability to feel supported, and a community’s ability to grow stronger together.

Whether you are a business, nonprofit, service provider, or volunteer, your participation helps close gaps created by poverty and limited access while building meaningful connections that last far beyond a single day.

Nonprofit Partners

We invite nonprofit organizations to join us as community partners in serving families at the Back to School Community Bash. This opportunity is designed for organizations that are actively working to support children, youth, and families through education, health, housing, workforce development, mental wellness, and other essential services. Participation is free; however, nonprofits are asked to contribute new school supplies as a way of directly supporting students in need. This helps ensure that every child attending the event leaves with the tools they need for a successful school year.

Organizations that have received an official invitation from the Jay Mack Community Foundation may register directly, while those not yet invited are encouraged to submit an application for review. This allows us to align participating organizations with the goals of the event and ensure a well-rounded mix of resources for families.

By partnering with us, nonprofits gain visibility, community engagement opportunities, and the ability to connect directly with families who can benefit from their services, while also contributing to a shared mission of strengthening our community.

Vendors and Youth Entrepreneurs

We welcome a diverse group of vendors to help create a vibrant, family-friendly marketplace at the Back to School Community Bash. This includes local businesses, service providers, face painters, balloon artists, and creative vendors who add fun, color, and energy to the event experience. Vendors play an important role in making the event feel like a true community celebration while also having the opportunity to showcase their products and services to more than 1,000 attendees.

We are also proud to support and uplift youth entrepreneurs and kid-owned businesses, giving young people a platform to share their creativity, learn business skills, and experience what it means to be a vendor in a real community setting. Whether you are an established business, a creative service provider, or a young entrepreneur just getting started, this event is a space to connect, grow, and be seen. By participating, vendors not only gain exposure but also help create a joyful, engaging environment where families can shop, explore, and celebrate together.

Community Service Providers

We are seeking licensed and skilled community service providers who are willing to donate their time and talent to help children feel confident and prepared for the new school year. This includes barbers, braiders, hair stylists, natural hair care specialists, cosmetologists, beauticians, and other grooming professionals who can provide haircuts, braids, styles, and basic grooming services.

These services will be offered free of charge to children attending the event, helping families reduce the financial burden of back-to-school preparation while ensuring every child has the opportunity to show up looking and feeling their best.

By participating, you are not only providing a service—you are contributing to a moment of confidence, dignity, and care that can positively impact a child’s entire school year.

Volunteers

Volunteers are the heartbeat of the Back to School Community Bash, helping ensure the event runs smoothly from start to finish. We welcome individuals, families, students, church groups, civic organizations, and corporate teams to join us in serving the community.

Whether you are assisting with event setup, distributing backpacks and school supplies, supporting children’s activity areas, guiding guests, helping with registration, or providing general event support, every role plays an important part in creating a safe, organized, and welcoming environment.

High school and college students are encouraged to participate and may be eligible to receive service hours. No matter your age or experience, your willingness to serve helps create a meaningful and memorable experience for hundreds of families in our community.
